What is Aeration?
Aeration is the naturally occurring process of air exchange between the soil and its surrounding atmosphere. Core aeration is the process of mechanically removing small plugs of thatch and soil from the lawn to improve natural soil aeration.
What problems can core aeration solve?
- Thatch - aeration helps loosen the soil and creates holes in the thatch. The holes allow microorganisms into the soil to break down the thatch layer at a quicker rate.
- Soil compaction - When lawns are too compacted, nutrients, water, and oxygen can't get into the soil. This results in weak, shallow roots and thin grass blades.
